Socializing Grading Writing Assignments for Faculty Wellbeing and Student Learning Workshop / Apr 29 (11 am -12 pm)
facilitated by Gloria Borrows, and Robin Anderson, UFV
This workshop begins by presenting results of a study that piloted an approach to grading writing assignments using the Think Aloud Protocol method in one-on-one face-to-face writing conferences between instructors and students in a number of disciplines. Based on qualitative data gathered through student and faculty surveys and a faculty focus group, this research examines how socializing the context of grading writing assignments may illuminate the needs of readers for the writer, contributing to student learning, and how collaborating face-to-face with learners in grading activities may increase faculty wellbeing; workshop activities will focus on teaching this approach and assessing its value for attendees.
During this 1 hour wellness session participants will:
* the potential benefits of one-on-one face-to-face grading for student learning and faculty wellbeing
* how to use the Think Aloud Protocol method and how to adapt it to the grading situation
Please note that you must register separately for each PDDAY2021 session you wish to attend.
This includes all workshops, performers, and keynote sessions.
